Q: How much does it cost to live at Sunlight Sober Living?
A: $150 per week and $300 refundable security deposit. Rent may be paid weekly or monthly.
Q: How long can I stay at Sunlight?
A: You can stay as long as you need! The minimum recommend time is 6 months. This gives you an opportunity to build a solid foundation in recovery and a support system you can rely on. There isn’t a restriction on how long you can stay, however 1-2 years is the average length of stay at most sober living facilities.
Q: Is there a curfew?
A: Yes, curfew is 10p on weekdays and 12 midnight on weekends.
Q: What is expected of me as a resident at Sunlight?
5 AA/NA meetings per week (documentation of meeting attendance is required) • Actively working the 12 steps with a sponsor
Seeking employment or engaging in volunteer opportunities
Submitting to random or weekly drug/alcohol screenings
Being a good and responsible housemate
Q: Am I responsible for my own food/groceries/meals?
A: Yes, you are responsible for your own groceries. We have plenty of kitchen/fridge space for you to store the food you love. We can provided food-stamp application assistance, if necessary.
Additionally, Sunlight provides a Sun Basket meal kit every Sunday evening for “Family Dinner”. We do provide Onyx brand coffee for the houses free of charge.
Q: Can I have my personal vehicle at Sunlight?
A: Personal vehicles are allowed, provided you have a valid diver’s license, current vehicle registration, and proof of automobile insurance.
Q: Am I allowed to have visitors?
A: Yes, after your first 30 days you are allowed to have manager-approved guests in the common areas of the house only. Guests must be off property by curfew.
Q: Do I have to complete a 30-day residential treatment program to be eligible to live at Sun- light?
A: No, but you do have to pass a drug/alcohol screening prior to acceptance. If you have health insurance, we recommend that you participate in Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment while you are living at Sunlight, but it is not required that you do so.
Q: What medications am I allowed to take?
A: At Sunlight we do not allow the use of narcotic medications. Even if they are prescribed by a Doctor, narcotic medications such as benzodiazepines, amphetamines, suboxone etc.… are not allowed. Some OTC medications are not allowed such as NyQuil because it contains alcohol. All clients will fill out a medications list with their paperwork and any changes to medications while a resident must be reported to the house manager.
Q: What happens if I relapse or fail a drug screen?
A: If a resident relapses, they must leave the house and take all of their things immediately. It is case by case but depending on progress and how hard someone is working we may allow a second chance. The resident will not be allowed back until they can pass a drug screen or breathalyzer test.
Q: Am I allowed to spend nights away from Sunlight?
A: After 30 days overnight visits can be approved but are limited to TWO instances per week. Resident must submit to a drug/alcohol screening immediately upon return from every overnight stay.
